A Snowy Victory

12/31/13

First things first: I bought some new furniture today!

Squee!!!

Squee!!!

Seriously, this is a huge deal for me. I never have the saving powers to put together the money for one of these bad boys.

Anyway, after rearranging my apartment, I headed off into the world for a surprisingly fun and fulfilling day. In the morning, I met Kayley in the park to watch the flurries falling…

“I thought there’d be more snow!”

“I thought there’d be more snow!”

…and also got yet another feature from Teagan.

“That outfit is just too cute to let it pass me by!”

“That outfit is just too cute to let it pass me by!”

So, with those words of encouragement still ringing in my ears, I headed to the boutique…where I proceeded to sell outfit after outfit after outfit. Business was booming! But I did manage to slip away for a sec—just long enough to bump into a friendly customer doing some browsing downtown.

"You know what I could really go for right about now…?”

“You know what I could really go for right about now…?”

“Blueberries! And how about smothered in chocolate! Drool…”

“Blueberries! And how about smothered in chocolate! Drool…”

Then it was time to close up for a minute and make my way over to the contest hall. I threw something together for the bold theme, totally not expecting to win…but then I did! And what better way to spend Christmas Eve than watching fireworks from the hotel’s ultra-posh after-party?

Let’s Have an Adventure

12/30/13

What an interesting day I had today! In the morning, Teagan came by to photo the boutique for a feature in an online magazine, getting things off to a rolling start!

"I promise you, this is just the beginning.”

“I promise you, this is just the beginning.”

Then Daisy, from the flower stand in the park, stopped by…

"Do you think, since I talk so much, I’d smell nice if I were a flower?”

“Do you think, since I talk so much, I’d smell nice if I were a flower?”

…and asked me for a punk outfit, of all things!

“Yay, it’s perfect!”

“Yay, it’s perfect!

A little later in the day, I bumped into her at the Amusement Park—I honestly don’t know why they’re still open in this snow, but we had fun anyway!

“Want to go on the merry-go-round?”

“Want to go on the merry-go-round?”

On my way home, I also ran into a couple of customers from earlier in the day, who were looking for a singing guy wearing a tank top?

Not sure I got all the details, but they said I’ve got to try to hear him!

Not sure I got all the details, but they said I’ve got to try to hear him!

And then—wonder of wonders—just a block or two from home, I ran into Teagan once again, and this time she photographed me for the magazine!

“Say ‘Cheddar!’”

“Say ‘Cheddar!’”

All in all, not a bad way to start bringing the year to a close.

Frozen Solid

12/27/13

Finally got out to the theater to see Disney’s latest princess movie Frozen today. I’ve been meaning to go for about, oh, forever—it’s a retelling of The Snow Queen, and that’s one of my favorite fairy tales, after all! To celebrate the movie (and my undying love of Hans Christian Anderson and the newer stock of Disney heroines), I got all bundled up as Anna. I’d forgotten how much fun it was to cosplay—enjoy!

And A Very Merry Christmas to All!

12/25/13

What a fun, fabulous Christmas day! The Buyer’s Center had special hours just for boutique owners in the area, so I stopped by briefly and found a couple of really cute pieces. You can never strike out there! While I was stocking the back room at the store, a couple of people came by, and I really couldn’t turn them away…

…especially with a request as simple as finding some longer sleeves!

Much better, no?

And then Daisy’s brother Reed asked for some new jeans…

…and told me an embarrassing story about getting splashed on a water ride! Oh, Reed…

I hope everyone out there was able to enjoy their Christmas just as much as I enjoyed mine!

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas…

12/24/12

And all through the town,
The boom of the fireworks
Did resound!

…Okay, so I’m not a poet. Don’t judge me. But I must say, I was a little surprised this morning when Michaela walked into Lilac Breeze with Emmylou not far behind…

…and they asked me if I wanted to see the fireworks show tonight!

…and they asked me if I wanted to see a fireworks show with them tonight!

Of course I said yes about as quickly as I could! Then, who should walk in…

...but Daphne from the Buyer’s Center!

…but Daphne from the Buyer’s Center!

She’d spilled some food on herself during lunch (no thanks to a certain clumsy co-worker) and wanted a full outfit to replace hers.

Well, no problem!

Well, no problem!

Of course she loved what I’d put together, and suggested we meet up later for a photoshoot!

I found her no problem at the café…

and Teagen was more than happy to help us out!

I think it turned out cute, don’t you

After that, it was time to hurry over to the picnic area and meet Michaela and Emmylou—and pop in some earplugs

Happy Solstice!

12/21/13

Can you believe it’s already the shortest day of the year? I had a booming day at the boutique and sold a bunch of mannequin outfits!

To celebrate the solstice, I closed up shop a little early and went for a stroll through the absolutely gorgeous Station Plaza.

Just look at all those lights!

Just look at all those lights!

And after being out in the cold air, a cup of something warm seemed like the perfect way to end my long night out.

Yum—peppermint tea always hits the spot!

Looking forward to longer days in the weeks to come!

Stickin’ with It

12/19/13

No apologies, no excuses—I know I’ve been gone a while, but there’s too much to catch up on! I don’t have words to waste! The fall rush got particularly bad in November, so much so that I hardly got any time off for Thanksgiving. But that’s all behind us now, and with Christmas fast approaching, I’m stocking up on winter styles, listening to holiday songs, and trying to find a way to bring mittens back into style.

I’m telling you, there’s nothing worse than chapped hands!

I’m telling you, there’s nothing worse than chapped hands!

Today, I got my hair done as well…

Aah, I haven’t done this in so long!

Aah, I haven’t done this in so long!

…and then went for a walk in the chilly park air.

But not too chilly!

But not too chilly!

And to dress my place up for the holidays, I even stopped downtown and bought myself a pot of poinsettias.
