Getting It (Adelaide, Pt. 2)

11/19/16
After the whole Adelaide situation got started, I wasn’t quite sure where to turn next. This girl was ready to shut down something that Ricky, Sophie, Callie, myself, and a lot of other people have poured their love and effort into—something that means so much to this city. I couldn’t just stand idly by and watch as she undid all our hard work, so I turned to the first person I could think of: my dear friend and fellow fashionista, Evie.

Of course she had an idea right away!

Of course she had the perfect idea right away!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, but fashion is for everyone—including people like Adelaide, who might not yet be enlightened to that fact. In order to bring her around, Evie got in touch with some of her contacts, and yet another brand booth opened in the Exhibition Hall, catering to people with tastes just like Adelaide’s!

Boy, I can’t wait to do business with you!

Boy, I can’t say how excited I am to do business with you!

Enid Chen offers the very best in high-class fashion…

…as my friends were quick to point out to me.

However, I appreciated their cautions against going all-out—the products are quite pricey!

But worth it, naturally.

I even liked Kez’s outfit for me so much that I wore it to my next photoshoot!

Of course, Adelaide wasn’t ready to be impressed immediately… adelaide_23 But even she had to admit that clothes aren’t just clothes after getting a major confidence boost thanks to her newest outfit. adelaide_28
So, with a little help from all of my friends, the fashion contests will start up again very soon. adelaide_29First, thanks to another one of Sophie’s great ideas, I just have to dress up a bunch of extra models to show off my signature style…

and I can’t wait to get started!

December in Photos

1/10/2016
Sorry for the delay in putting this up! Instead of my usual monthly summary of the outfits I wore (though don’t worry, that’s in here too—scroll to the bottom!), I’m going to go over all the fun things that happened to me over the course of my holidays, but that never quite made it onto the blog!

1. Reed!
There was that time when he invited me out to the Photo Studio…

Actually, it happened twice!

Actually, it happened twice!

Hmm…trying to tell me something, Reed?

Hmm…trying to tell me something, Reed?

Well, at least we made some photos and fun memories!

Well, at least we made some photos and fun memories!

Gotta say, I’m grateful to that dude. He dragged me out of the store on a day when I seriously needed some fresh air!

2. Cake!
I met a couple of customers/friends at the cake shop a while back, and enjoyed a delicious snack break with them.

“Cake is one of my favorite things, y’know! But…”

“Cake is one of my favorite things, y’know! But…”

“Well, I’m a little annoyed! Susan, he won’t buy me the 10 fruitcakes I came for.”

“Well, I’m a little annoyed! Susan, he won’t buy me the 10 fruitcakes I came for.”

Sometimes girls just gotta have their cake, and boys just don’t understand that, am I right?

3. Makeovers!
I got to spend some quality girl time with the amazingly talented gals (and guys!)

"Now just sit back..."

“Now just sit back…”

"...relax..."

“…relax…”

"...there, didn’t I tell you you’d love it?"

“…there, didn’t I tell you you’d love it?”

4. Outfits!
My favorite thing to do is put together outfits, obviously—it’s why I’m in this business!—but what tops even that is putting together outfits for the people I really care about. I got to do that a couple of times this month, for both Michaela and Daphne, two lovely ladies I look up to a whole lot. The best part was, they both could not have loved my selections any more than they did!

“I can’t wait to wear this to work!”

“I can’t wait to wear this to work!”

“Actually, it’s too cute for work. Let’s get our picture taken instead!”

“Susan, would you believe it if I told you I have a…date…with this guy?!”

“Susan, would you believe it if I told you I have a…date, with…this guy?!”

"I knew you would!"

“I knew you’d say yes!”

“And wouldn’t you know it—your outfit made the evening!”

“And wouldn’t you know it—your outfit made the evening!”

5. Monthly slideshow!
As promised, here are some shots of my favorite outfits from last month. Enjoy!

As always, thanks for reading. And get excited, because my move to Beaumonde city keeps getting closer and closer! Right now, it’s looking like I’ll get there sometime in May. That’s a lot of time, but also not a lot of time! And I promise to keep blogging about it right on through.

Count it Down!

1/1/2016

Happy New Year to you lovers of all things stylish! The last year has been good to me (I mean, I restarted the blog, and that’s been great!). I spent my New Years and New Year’s Day mostly helping out around the store. Even with my awesome assistants around to help run the place, the demands of the fashion world never cease!

It was fun, yes, but I was also just the tiniest bit disappointed when Michaela and Emmylou didn’t stop by to invite me out for fireworks, like they have in the past.

Remember? It was great, right?

However, I have been getting a whole lot of new customers, people who’ve never visited the boutique before in their lives, and that’s very exciting!

It means I get to spread my love of great fashion even farther and wider.

Oh, and Philip asked me to go to the Photo Studio with him, so that’s worth something, I’m sure!

Oh, and Philip asked me to go to the Photo Studio with him, so that’s worth something, I’m sure!

I also met a couple of girls at the Station Plaza, so I guess that counts as getting out, too!

They couldn’t stop talking about this guy who sings in a tank top around that time of day…

And I wondered, could it be…this guy? Because, him? I sold him that tank top!!

I even splurged on some new furniture, and did some redecorating…

Looks like I wasn’t the only one with that idea!

Looks like I wasn’t the only one with that idea!

And Daisy told me that, if my color of the day is purple…

Purple for wealth—my wallet is purple! And people love having you around.

So, all in all—a great start to 2016!

Mannequin Mania

12/12/2015

I was going to get back into blogging with some much-needed recapping of my memories and photos that have gone begging over the past year or so, but then something else came up, as things tend to do. It’s just this—once I got back to the store and started switching things around…

I changed the interior, too—do you like it?

I changed the interior, too—do you like it?

…people started coming up to me and asking about the clothes being displayed by my mannequin.

A lot of these gals were first-time visitors to the boutique, which was pretty exciting in and of itself! After a couple of years, I thought I’d come to know everyone in town, but I guess that’s not the case quite yet.

How was I supposed to say no to so much enthusiasm?

So that’s what I’ve been up to lately—restocking the back room, and selling my mannequin out of ensembles just as fast as I can put them together! Can’t say I have a problem with it, though…

Especially since these gals–and guys–really know how to rock my outfits!

A Snowy Victory

12/31/13

First things first: I bought some new furniture today!

Squee!!!

Squee!!!

Seriously, this is a huge deal for me. I never have the saving powers to put together the money for one of these bad boys.

Anyway, after rearranging my apartment, I headed off into the world for a surprisingly fun and fulfilling day. In the morning, I met Kayley in the park to watch the flurries falling…

“I thought there’d be more snow!”

“I thought there’d be more snow!”

…and also got yet another feature from Teagan.

“That outfit is just too cute to let it pass me by!”

“That outfit is just too cute to let it pass me by!”

So, with those words of encouragement still ringing in my ears, I headed to the boutique…where I proceeded to sell outfit after outfit after outfit. Business was booming! But I did manage to slip away for a sec—just long enough to bump into a friendly customer doing some browsing downtown.

"You know what I could really go for right about now…?”

“You know what I could really go for right about now…?”

“Blueberries! And how about smothered in chocolate! Drool…”

“Blueberries! And how about smothered in chocolate! Drool…”

Then it was time to close up for a minute and make my way over to the contest hall. I threw something together for the bold theme, totally not expecting to win…but then I did! And what better way to spend Christmas Eve than watching fireworks from the hotel’s ultra-posh after-party?

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas…

12/24/12

And all through the town,
The boom of the fireworks
Did resound!

…Okay, so I’m not a poet. Don’t judge me. But I must say, I was a little surprised this morning when Michaela walked into Lilac Breeze with Emmylou not far behind…

…and they asked me if I wanted to see the fireworks show tonight!

…and they asked me if I wanted to see a fireworks show with them tonight!

Of course I said yes about as quickly as I could! Then, who should walk in…

...but Daphne from the Buyer’s Center!

…but Daphne from the Buyer’s Center!

She’d spilled some food on herself during lunch (no thanks to a certain clumsy co-worker) and wanted a full outfit to replace hers.

Well, no problem!

Well, no problem!

Of course she loved what I’d put together, and suggested we meet up later for a photoshoot!

I found her no problem at the café…

and Teagen was more than happy to help us out!

I think it turned out cute, don’t you

After that, it was time to hurry over to the picnic area and meet Michaela and Emmylou—and pop in some earplugs

Green is Good For You

9/28/13

Wow, what a beautiful day. The wind was blowing, the leaves were just starting to fall, and it wasn’t even too cold! I celebrated with a breezy sort of outfit and took a long walk through the park, where I happened to meet up with Daisy.

Green grapes and good health!

Green grapes and good health!

The store wasn’t too busy in the afternoon, so I finally found the time to try the café’s seasonal spiced pumpkin latte.

Man, I’ve been waiting all year for this!

Man, I’ve been waiting all year for this!

By then the sun was going down, so it was time to head for the contest hall…and suck up my first loss in a while.

I’m just not good at making “girly” outfits!

Hopefully, the coming fall colors will bring along some much-needed fashion inspiration!

Weekend-After-Labor-Day Weekend

9/7/13

Since I was so busy getting everything all prepped and perfect last weekend, my pals in town were nice enough to hold back their annual Labor Day barbeque until this Saturday. And boy, am I glad they rescheduled, because this barbecue was some of the absolute best I’ve ever had!

We have corn, sausages, hot dogs—eat up!

I’ll even make some end-of-summer iced coffee!

Nom, steak…

Nom, steak…

After all that got done, I hit up the salon and—are you ready for this?—let down my hair! Then I redid my apartment to match the colors of the leaves…

Doesn’t it feel really warm and cozy?

Doesn’t it feel really warm and cozy?

…and took a stroll through the park, stopping to ask Daisy my fortune.

Brown, brown, brown…bamboo, adaptability, mayonnaise!

I even went to dinner with Daphne!

This place is always the best!

This place always has the best food!

…and Tegwyn got a photo of me on a casual stroll through the town.

Say “Cheddar!”

Say “Cheddar!”

And although the leaves are starting to turn and there’s a bit of a chill in the air, I hope it won’t turn to true fall weather just yet! (Because who knows how often I’ll be able to blog once the demand for sweaters starts to increase!)

Fun Under the…Stars?

7/18/13

My day was packed with summery stuff today. Around ten I made it down to the beach again, where I met Hilary.

Salt

I just love this salty air!

Swimsuit time

And, yup, beach time means swimsuit time…

The day just flew by, as summer days seem to do, and before I knew it, I was sitting down to an absolutely fabulous dinner with another pal from the boutique.

Passionfruit

The best part? There was passionfruit sorbet on the dessert menu! (Yay!)

By then it was almost midnight, but I still squeezed in a quick change before meeting Avery at the Starry Hill, out near where the Lavender Fields bloom during spring.

I was just dazzled by all the stars. So far away from the city, the night sky seems to take on a whole new life! And after all that—and some summer deals at the Buyer’s Center—you can believe I slept like a rock.

On to International

5/19/13

I had a jam-packed day yesterday, starting when I met customer Rebekah at the Lavender Fields.

Lavender

I love this place—it just smells so great out here!

I then hit the Teahouse with Daphne…

Lunch

We got tea and sweet crepes—that’s my kind of lunch.

…got my hair done, and redecorated my apartment to match my outfit.

Then it was time to head to the contest hall, where my fate in fashion awaited me.

Believe it or not, I got 4th! Emmylou placed 2nd, and her outfit didn’t even fit the theme.

Fish

“Guess we’ve both got some bigger fish to fry…”

Ah, well. That’s that, and there will always be other opportunities. I cheered myself up by choosing an outfit for Hazel, who’s now a regular customer…

Hazel

…and who loves flirty stuff!

Then I went home and chose a new outfit for myself…

PJs

One at the perfect comfort-level for pajamas. Good night!
