Getting It (Adelaide, Pt. 2)

After the whole Adelaide situation got started, I wasn’t quite sure where to turn next. This girl was ready to shut down something that Ricky, Sophie, Callie, myself, and a lot of other people have poured their love and effort into—something that means so much to this city. I couldn’t just stand idly by and watch as she undid all our hard work, so I turned to the first person I could think of: my dear friend and fellow fashionista, Evie.

Of course she had an idea right away!

Of course she had the perfect idea right away!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, but fashion is for everyone—including people like Adelaide, who might not yet be enlightened to that fact. In order to bring her around, Evie got in touch with some of her contacts, and yet another brand booth opened in the Exhibition Hall, catering to people with tastes just like Adelaide’s!

Boy, I can’t wait to do business with you!

Boy, I can’t say how excited I am to do business with you!

Enid Chen offers the very best in high-class fashion…

…as my friends were quick to point out to me.

However, I appreciated their cautions against going all-out—the products are quite pricey!

But worth it, naturally.

I even liked Kez’s outfit for me so much that I wore it to my next photoshoot!

Of course, Adelaide wasn’t ready to be impressed immediately… adelaide_23 But even she had to admit that clothes aren’t just clothes after getting a major confidence boost thanks to her newest outfit. adelaide_28
So, with a little help from all of my friends, the fashion contests will start up again very soon. adelaide_29First, thanks to another one of Sophie’s great ideas, I just have to dress up a bunch of extra models to show off my signature style…

and I can’t wait to get started!

Suddenly Stylish

It’s been months since I’d attempted an entry in the International Contest, or any fashion contest here in town, for that matter. I’ve had mixed successes with the International Contest in the past, and was stuck on one particular theme for so long that I almost threw in the towel. But earlier this month, I decided to give it another shot—just one more time. And, with the perfect outfit, I…

Well, after that victory, you better believe I gave it another go—and another, and another after that! Putting time and care into my outfit choices seemed to really wow the judges, because they handed out trophies and prizes from the exclusive brand Teatro Amare like I was some sort of fashion prodigy. And according to Avery, that’s actually what I am…

No one has ever won all of the themes before! Girlfriend, what ARE you?!

NO ONE has EVER won ALL of the themes before! Girlfriend, what ARE you?!

I have to say, it feels pretty good to not only have won the International Contest once or twice, but to have crushed it, to have complete and utter victory over it. I got to work with some of the top models in the business…

…and to attend the most posh after-party that I think I’ve ever been to.

Yes, that's right--it felt FABULOUS!

Yes, that’s right–it felt FABULOUS!

I’m Alive … and Wanting

Well, hello there! To all the faithful readers who have browsed pages in my absence—thank you so much for supporting and believing in me. Your readership has meant a lot over the past couple of years! So much has happened that I’m not quite sure where to begin, but I’m confident that you don’t want to hear all about school, school, and school, where is where most of my time has gone. The boutique and life in general have also kept me busy-busy-busy, too busy to do more than think about the blog every once in a while. However, now that I’m officially coming back, I want to get things off to the right sort of re-start!

On that note, I suppose I’ll address the most pressing matter from the get-go: I’m thinking that it’s time to move on from sleepy little Styleville—to begin truly making my way up in the fashion world. While I love the city and all it has to offer, and I’ve made great friends here and taken amazing strides within my own career, I can’t shake the feeling that there’s something else out there—something more, that’s waiting for me. So I looked around a little, and started hearing word through the grapevine about a place called Beaumonde City.

What’s Beaumonde City, you ask? An excellent question, seeing as I hadn’t heard of it myself before just a couple of days ago. Well, apparently, it is THE place to be if you’re anyone who wants to become Anyone in the fashion world these days. Beaumonde’s passion for fashion had flagged in the past—perhaps why I hadn’t heard of the place before—but now the community is coming back steady and strong, providing openings in retail, modeling, hair styling, cosmetics, and even clothing design for up-and-coming fashionistas such as yours truly! As if that weren’t enough to tempt me, apparently my grandmother left me an inheritance there, something from years ago. I’m not sure what it might be, but I do have a feeling that it will be key to establishing my place in this brave new space.

The only complication is that Beaumonde is far—quite far—from where I’m living now. So it’s going to take me a bit of time to pack my bags and say good-bye to Styleville University, and to the people who have taught me and helped me so much over the years. On top of that, I’ll have to do what may be the hardest thing of all—that is, say good-bye to Lilac Breeze, and hand it over to the assistants who have more than proven their worth through all the times they’ve been there to lend me a helping hand.

No one said it would be easy, but I believe I’m ready for it. And one way or the other, you can be sure that new adventures in fashion await us! Check back soon for more—and know that, for the time being, I’m back for good.

Time to Go Short

You know me—I find one hairstyle I like, I stick with it. I don’t know how long this one will stay around, but for the time being, I’m going short for the summer!

Aah, too cute!

After getting my hair done, I took a jog in the park, where I bumped into this gal Jerry Ann, who promised mint tea next time we meet.

Jerry Ann

Her garden’s full of the stuff!

Daisy’s booth was just a couple of steps away, so I chose green for my color of the day, and guess what herb she named? Mint!

Green…mint…wisdom…your lucky item is soda pop!

After hearing all that, it was time to go home and settle in over a nice cup of mint tea.

After turning my décor all-green, of course! …Well, mostly green. It’s the thought that counts.

Hazel Street

I currently have three store assistants: Shea, Dierdre, and Danny. But while chatting up some of my fellow fashionistas the other day, I learned they’ve heard from a few other people who are interested in finding an in on the fashion scene here in town. And now that I think about it, I could use a couple more store assistants so I don’t have my poor helpers working themselves to pieces for me. One girl I particularly remember hearing about is named Hazel, and, if rumors are to be believed, she likes the edgy “street” style. Guess I’ll switch up my décor and see what happens!

Great, now I have to stock up on “street” merchandise…

Let’s See if I Can Sew

So for the end of the year and graduation and all that, of course there are going to be a bunch of parties and things, and of course, being the trendsetter that I am, I’m going to be invited to a whole bunch of them. Naturally, I could just wear any old thing, but I was kind of thinking about designing a dress for myself and then trying my hand at making it…or not. We’ll see what happens, right? But I wear so many clothes that someone else designed for me—I just think it would be cool to dig out some of my old paper dolls and make one of those ideas a reality. Unfortunately, I don’t own a sewing machine, and the one time I used one at a friend’s house in college, it managed to tie the thread into a massive knot that wouldn’t budge for a week or two.

…Yeah, we’ll see what happens this time.

Welcome to the Waterfront

Okay, so it wasn’t really the waterfront. I picked out a simple yet chic outfit for India and then met her in the park a little later in the day, and we went over to the photo studio to get some snaps taken!

Here’s to more gorgeous spring weather!

St. Patrick’s Day

Or “St. Patty’s Day,” as we like to call it here in Styleville. It was a slow day in the store, because the weather was gorgeous and everyone was out celebrating. I did get a couple of people in around lunchtime…

Recognize these faces?

Recognize these faces?

…and after I’d found what’s-her-face a springy outfit, they asked if I wanted to meet them down at the waterfront. Well, of course I said yes, because I don’t think I’ve ever been to that part of town before, and apparently the water gets dyed green every year in honor of the holiday.

Wow, check out that green!

Wow, check out that color!

I’ll admit it was a little bit awful seeing the river such a bright emerald…

What the heck do they put in the water to make it look like that?

What the heck do they put in the water to make it look like that?

…but it was worth it to the fun time I had and the photos I got. Here’s to next St. Patty’s Day!

Springtime in Styleville!

When I woke up this morning, I knew there was something different in the air, and as soon as I stepped outside, I found out why: It’s the first day of March today, and here in Styleville, where things happen punctually, that also means the first day of spring. I got a nice new hairstyle, because as Celeste always tells me, a new hairstyle can help you see the world in new ways, and I am so ready to kiss winter good-bye. Afterward I ran all around town meeting friends and checking out people’s warmer-weather outfits—take a look at my photos!

New Girl in Town

Today, on my way to the Contest Hall to style a model for my second Elite Contest, I had a flash of inspiration and shot a text to my neighbor who lives a couple of apartments down the hall. She’s just as into fashion as I am, and Avery and Michaela didn’t see a problem with us styling something together, so that’s just what we did. It’s too bad my cell ran out of battery halfway through, or I would have gotten a photo of her and her winning model.
